ラマダン
ホワイトハウスのラマダン祝の夕食会の記事で気づきましたが、イスラム教のラマダン月になったのですね。イスラム暦第9番目の月で、日中、食を絶ち、身を慎むそうです。
私は宗教にかぶれる気持は全然ないのですが、歴史が大嫌いな割に、背景とか知るのが嫌いでないようなのです。そして、なぜかイスラム教関連には不思議と縁があるようです。
あるとき、本屋でブラウズしていて、一冊の本が目に止まりました。
私は、このカアバ神殿の写真（表紙）に引き込まれてしまいました。そのときは買わなかったし、滅多に写真集は買わないのですが、結局、後で買ってしまいました。とてつもない数の人が、同じことをしているというのが、ズシンと来ます。
さて、この写真集なのですが、タダの写真集ではありません。
そもそも、イスラム教は戒律がとても厳しいので、異教徒はメッカに入ることはできません。それに、偶像崇拝禁止というのがあるので、写真とることもなかなかままならないようです。
野町氏は、氏の写真作品を見たイスラム圏の要人から撮影を依頼され、はてはイスラム教に改宗して臨んでいます。メッカ巡礼も何回か経験されているようです。
写真集は高いしデカイのですが、去年出版された、岩波新書「カラー版 メッカ―聖地の素顔」に、同様の写真と、苦労話が出ています。
非常に興味深い作品なので、是非一度みてみてください。
ちなみに、極めて個人的な好みですが、写真は文句なしなのですが、微妙に絵が好きでないです。なぜかというと、カメラがキャノンだからです。私は、オヤジからしてニコン党なので、なんか固すぎるというかなんというか。。。ちょっと好きじゃないんです…（笑）
ちょっと話がずれるのですが、戦争は嫌いですが、テクノスリラーが結構好きで、トム・クランシーの作品はほとんど読んでいます。彼の比較的最近の作品は、やはりイスラム世界の話題が出てきて、そのからみの描写もあってわりと前提となる知識はあって、多少刷りこみはあったのだと思います。自分の気持ちとしては、イスラムに縁がある部分と、クランシーの作品の話は、それこそ180度違うので、「変だ」と言われてもしかたないのですが、なんなんでしょうね。。。
